BROOKLYN, N.Y. — After batting .563 last week, freshman Nicole Quintana (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) has been named the Skyline Conference Softball Rookie of the Week for games played April 18-24, the league office announced yesterday.
Quintana knocked multiple hits in all four games last week, finishing 9-for-16 with six runs scored and a team-best seven RBI over a pair of doubleheaders against Lehman College and Purchase College where St. Joseph's went 2-2.
During a pair of shutout victories over Lehman, the second baseman/catcher drove in three runs in both ends of the twin bill and finished the series 5-for-7 with six RBI and two runs.
The weekly accolade is the first received by a Lady Bear this season.
After wrapping up their Skyline Conference schedule on Sunday, the Lady Bears will conclude their 2016 campaign on Sunday, May 1st with a doubleheader vs. John Jay College starting at noon at Randall's Island.
