Condon Named ABCA/Rawlings New York All-Region Third Team

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Adding to a growing list of accolades honoring his outstanding sophomore campaign, John Condon (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) has been named to the 2017 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings New York All-Region Team, announced earlier today.

The sophomore became just the fifth player in St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) baseball history to be honored by the ABCA, named the region's third-team utility player. Condon was also a Skyline All-Conference First Team and CoSIDA Academic All-District selection after posting a .432 average that ranks 23rd in Division III and second in the conference. He was also the team's top run producer with 34 RBI, finishing sixth in the league.

One of two Bears to play in every game this season, he compiled two separate hitting streaks of 10 and 12 games to open and close the season and led the team with 14 multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI games. Splitting time between first base, catcher and designated hitter, Condon maintained his unblemished career fielding percentage going error-free in 148 chances this season.

Behind Condon's efforts, the Bears finished with a 14-19 overall mark this season and 9-9 in Skyline play.

The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division III All-America Committee. All-Region teams and regional players of the year were announced in all eight NCAA regions.
